A Message sent from President DiClemente earlier today read:

BENTE Members!

Many of you have contacted me regarding the recent news of my appointment to the position of President of AFSCME Council 66, which represents roughly 8,500 union members throughout New York State.  All have been congratulatory while naturally wondering what this means for BENTE.

Last week, my entire team and I were re-elected to our positions at BENTE, and we are thankful for the faith and support you have shown in your current leadership.  Please be assured that I would never abandon the members of the union I have been a part of since 1993.

The position of Council 66 President will simply provide me with more access to resources for our Local, while providing an opportunity to help other locals in our Council throughout New York State.  It will also enhance the status of BENTE/AFSCME Local 2419 as the leading example.

One of the first events we are organizing through Council 66 is the "Mayoral Candidates Forum", which will take place in the Forum Room at East High from 5:30pm to 7:00pm on Thursday, June 8th.  All of you should have received a notice through the courier.  This is an opportunity for support staff to be front and center, as the forum will only be open to members of BENTE/AFSCME Local 2419 and AFSCME Local 1635.  Please show your support and let's pack the room!

We have been in contract negotiations with the District since December, and as your Chief Negotiator, I can tell you that we have been slowly progressing towards a settlement that is on the horizon.

Plan on hearing from me again very soon.

In Great Appreciation,

Daniel DiClemente, President

BENTE/AFSCME Local 2419
