Board, Members Ratify Contract

CONTRACT RATIFICATION:

The BENTE Membership ratified the contract yesterday by a vote of 293 yes vs. 2 no. At the Board of Education meeting last night, the Board also ratified the new Collective Bargaining Agreement. School Board President Van White, and Commissioners' Powell, Evans, Adams, Campos, and Cruz all voted in favor of the Agreement. Vice President Cynthia Elliott was the only Board Member to vote against it. The vote passed 6 to 1.

Payroll is working diligently to try to implement the raise for the first paycheck in December and the retroactive pay into the second paycheck in December. Please be patient and understand that this is a great deal of manual work for our members in that department and we should be thankful for their efforts.

Please be advised that for members who are scheduled to work on the Day before

Thanksgiving:
• If you are a 12-month employee, your options are:
• Report to work, work half of your shift and be paid for the entire day
• Take a vacation day (you must take an entire vacation day)
• If you are a 10-month employee,your options are:
• Report to work, work half of your shift and be paid for the entire day
• Take a personal day (you must take an entire personal day)
• Take an unpaid day

Please be advised that for members who are NOT scheduled to work on the day before Thanksgiving, you can take a personal day, or the day will be unpaid.

Our annual CURE Holiday Party for children who are diagnosed with cancer is scheduled to take place on Wednesday,December 10th at School of the Arts from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Gifts are needed. Monetary donations are gladly accepted, as we would be more than happy to purchase and wrap the gifts with your donation. Please contact the union office (458-8670) for details. The kids really look forward to this event and we need your help in making sure that they all have a gift to open at the party. Volunteers are also needed. If you have never been to this event, I encourage you to attend. It is an amazing display of generosity from our members.

Holiday Gift: The Officers and Stewards will be coming out to your location after Thanksgiving to spread some Holiday cheer and to deliver this year's gift from the union, which will be a $10 Wegman's gift card to all members. We look forward to seeing you!
